HRW Calls for UN Probe into China’s Xinjian Riots

An exiled Uighur leader says China targets peaceful Uighur demonstrators as part of the government’s continuing repression in the Muslim-minority region.

The president of the Uyghur American Association, Rebiya Kadeer, says “The Chinese authorities instigated the violence” between the Uighur minority and the majority Han Chinese in Xinjiang province. Ms. Kadeer, 62, denied Beijing’s claim that she was behind the violence.
Ms. Kadeer and her husband were jailed by the Chinese authority. She spent six years in jail before being deported in March 2005 to join her family in the United States.
The riots broke out Sunday in Xinjiang region. Many ethnic minority Muslims have died in the violence. Hundreds more have been detained.
Uighur Americans protest in Washington
The international human rights group, Human Rights Watch (HRW), has urged the Chinese government to exercise maximum restraint in the face of the violence in Xinjiang. One analyst says that violence in Xinjiang is nothing new. Hundreds of Uighurs have been arrested, according to Chinese media.
“The Chinese government needs to demonstrate appropriate levels of force in dealing with civil unrest and not over react, not jump to the use of deadly force, ” the New York-based rights group said.
Chinese media reported more than 150 deaths in the aftermath of two days of violent clashes between Han Chinese and Muslim Uighurs in Xinjian Province.
The Chinese government reportedly is trying to control information about the unrest.
Beijing needs to bring in an “international investigator from the United Nations to try to determine what exactly happened on Sunday and what were the reasons for it,” said Human Rights Watch Asia Researcher Phelim Kine, in Hong Kong.
Chinese President Hu Jintao has abandoned plans to attend a G-8 summit meeting in Italy, to rush home to deal with the violent ethnic clashes.
They made huge lies—”Uighur groups say many more have died, claiming 90% of the dead were Uighurs.” These violence stemmed from the Uighur groups. Most victims are Han Chinese because Uighur group made a delicate plan and brought knives in advance.
Hundreds of Uighurs have been arrested,it is true,but have you think the reason for it?
Hundreds of Han have been killed,that’s the reason,why don’t VOA mention it at all?
I always think information of voa are fair and object former,but now,I very dispointed,and began to doubt eyerything you demonstrate.
I admired the govement-independent of the VOA before, but now,I have to admit that VOA also is the megaphone of the govement,just like the other media.
Whatever when wrong with these people can only be realised by themselves, crying and blaming won’t help.
Get up a join the globalised world and stop blaming others, you tell others to unite and yet separate others.
VOA IS SO smart! It brands itself as an independant and responsible media. Now by posting vicious articles from the third parties such as HRW on this so-called blog, it is killing using other people’s hands. It has joined this parties in inflaming hatred and violence.
Whenever there is a riot in China, VOA (and including all the bull**** Western media) will waste no time to publish a lot of prejudiced reports to smear China. You support any Dalai Lama or Rebiya Kadeer to disintegrate China, to kill hundreds of thousands of innocent Chinese, to stop China’s rapid economic development, and better to completely destroy China with those internal riots. You offer fund to the separalists of any country that is independent of your evil empire’s control and is likely to become more powerful than the US. In this aspect, VOA is nothing but a political tool of propaganda in service of the US government. But you Yankees should know who you are: you came from Europe and robbed the whole Noth America from native Indians. You killed tens of millions of them and drove the few survivals to so-called reservations. You should get out of the whole North America continent and be drowned in the Atlantic. Bullshit Rebiya and her wicket organization. They are murder plotters. They should all be sentenced to death!
I am Chinese, but I can use my pool English to tell you my feeling about the riot in Xingxiang Mainlan China.
First of all, I know the truth of the accident, When I read the prejudiced reports from VOA, I have a little angry. Yes, I support Chinese Government to handle the violence, the violaters are barbaric,kill,rob, burning house. and the VOA said they are only a protest, When the police come to drive the rioter away, and The VOA report to surpress the peacefull protesters. I really disappointted the report from VOA. Just like the riot in Tebit last year, and I am also support the Chinese Government to deal with the barbaric rioters. I believe the reporter knew the truth but to issue the prejudiced reports against Chinese Governments. These reporter loss their conscience on this event.
China claims it s good nation, why does it capture Vietnamese fishers
